Strike Impact on Salary
Under Alberta Education Act, teachers are paid for a maximum of 200 days per year. In a typical school calendar, teachers are employed for ten months of the school year (September through June). Teachers employed in “Year-Round” schools will be scheduled differently. However, for majority of teachers on continuing contracts, that ten months of salary is spread evenly over twelve months. Holy Spirit ATA Local Number 5 is the local council of the Alberta Teachers' Association serving teachers of the Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Separate School Division #4 located in South West Alberta. Holy Spirit Local #5 has schools in Lethbridge, Pincher Creek, Picture Butte, Coaldale, Taber, and Bow Island.
